July 31st was the deadline to gather $10M, in order to save Mooon Camp. And that goal was met, just recently, all thanks to a generous donation that was given of $5M+. This is wonderful news for all of the Big Bear Lake animals, plant life and ecosystem. The future does look brighter!

While this news is a wondeful one, we are still worried. Last week, our dear Jackie was found grounded and unable to fly. She was attacked by 2 sub-adult eagles that have been hanging around the area. Fortunately, Jackie was rescued and has been in the best of care. Her mate Shadow has been waiting and searching for her. Their eaglets have been missing her as well and they have now been unseen on camera in 2 days. Which is possible that they have now left the area to begin their own life's journey as young eagles.

A sub-adult eagle has been seen in the area and near Shadow. This eagle is most likely a female, in regard to its vocals and size. Shadow has been tolerating the eagle but has not been seen hanging around it for a long period of time (so it's not like they are courting). Shadow may still be waiting on his mate, Jackie, and we are all hoping for her full recovery so she can get back home.

The sub-adult is a beautiful eagle. She is just exploring her world as all eagles are born to do, until it is time to find a home of their own and begin a family. Shadow was once considered an intruder. He was a sub-adult that came to the nest and he decided he was going to stay. Mr. BB (Jackie's first mate) was unable to chase him off so he left instead, leaving Shadow to stay as the new male of the nest. Of coarse, it took some time for Jackie to accept him and well, here we are now.
Please keep Jackie in your thoughts. We'd all love to see her return to her nesting area and hopefully, return to her Shadow. ♥
